Answered Prayer Journal

Prayer Journal

Many years ago I wrote down in a notebook every answered prayer I received. No matter how big or small the prayer was, I wrote it down. A year later my notebook was full, I was astonished by the multitude of entries. I knew that God provided and answered many prayers but as for the total count, I had no idea. The Bible directs us many times to pray and even tell us how we should pray.

Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

John 15:7 – If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Mark 11:24 – Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 – Pray without ceasing.

Romans 8:26 – Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Matthew 6:6 – But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:7 – But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Luke 11:9 – And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Psalms 34:17 – The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Jeremiah 33:3 – Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Matthew 26:41 – Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

James 5:16 – Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Time after time, scripture after scripture, God tell us to pray. The Bible assures us that we WILL be heard and God WILL provide.  In the King James Version Bible the veil of the temple was rent, or torn, at the moment of Jesus’ death, specifically at the sixth hour. This event is described in Matthew 27:51, Mark 15:38, and Luke 23:45. This very scripture shows us that we don’t need an intercessor, we are able to approach the thrown of God anytime any day.

In today bustling world we are often swept up in the rush of time. We do good to stay in God’s  word daily and if you do you know it takes effort and dedication. I believe a prayer journal helped me, as a woman who is constantly  juggling multiple things at one time, to stop a moment and reflect. I would read each and every entry and be reminded of the way I felt during that time. My desperation or worries. My hope and fears. Each word held a mirrored memory embedded deep inside.  I cannot  think of a better example of God’s miracles than to see them written in your own hand. Most entries had slipped from my mind as God took the burden of my stresses and worries and took care of each and every one of them. He made my problems disappear but unfortunately, a lot of times my gratitude faded as well as I tackled life’s next obstacle.

I think it’s important as a Christian to count each and every blessing that Father provides. An Answered prayer journal can help keep track of those prayers and provides a great way to remember them.  Each one is a written testimony that not only showcases our faith but provides an excellent source of encouragement when days are long and the road is feeling tuff. To add another layer, by writing the answered prayers down and revisiting God’s great works we can strengthen our faith in God and his willingness to provide.

Start your prayer journal today and notice how your blessings become easier to see as you take count of them often. Notice how much more blessed your life appears as you maintain gratitude and appreciation for longer with each blessing. It will be blatantly apparent how God shows up in your life constantly in BIG ways. Try it for yourself today and you’ll see what I mean
