Today’s Choices Make Tomorrow’s Habits

Are there things I try to practice daily to live a more sustainable lifestyle?

Yes. Everyday I practice to make my Heavenly Father the last thought before I fall asleep and the first thought when I wake up. I fall asleep thanking him for my abundance of blessings and confessing my sins. I awake with prayers of thanksgiving for another day to serve him. Each day I devour God’s letter he wrote to me, The Bible. Even if it’s just a few verses I make time for God’s word. I started this a couple years ago and have slowly made it a habit.

To live a more sustainable lifestyle I also take conscious effort to monitor what I take into my body. Whether it’s what I hear, see, touch or taste. While I am not perfect I do try hard to make wise and informed decisions on things I consume. I also keep plenty of provisions for down times, just in case.

  1. I wrote an affirmation for myself many years ago that was made into a children’s book by my friend Eileen. I say the words every day, and when I’m sitting in a waiting room or standing in line, I pass the time by repeating it to myself.

    A Little Bit Better

Thanks to the things I did yesterday,

Today I am better in every way.

I love myself with all my features.

I love the world with all its creatures.

I set great goals, and I get them done.

I find many helpers, and so it is fun.

I’ll use this day wisely, and go with the weather.

Tomorrow, I’ll wake up a little bit better.

    1. That is a lovely affirmation! How sweet of your friend to make them into children’s books. Imagine how many other people now repeat the same lines to being joy to their life.

I am working with a team of illustrators at the moment who are turning my short stories into children’s books. They should publish sometime next year.
