Amish Cough Syrup



This natural remedy offers a powerful combination of ingredients to help alleviate cold symptoms. INGREDIENTS:

1-2 Large onions, sliced

2-4 lemons, sliced

1 pint honey

1 pint peppermint schnapps

1 pint blackberry brandy

NOTES: This recipe contains alcohol, making it unsuitable for children or those sensitive to alcohol. If preferred, a non-alcoholic version can be made by substituting blackberry brandy with strong blackberry tea or syrup and peppermint schnapps with peppermint extract. It’s also important to note that if symptoms persist for more than a week, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional for further guidance and care.


DOSAGE:

Take 1 tablespoon every 4 hours as needed to soothe coughing and





Preparation Steps:

1. Layer Onions and Lemons: Thinly slice onions and lemons, then create alternating layers in an airtight glass container.
2. Combine Ingredients: Pour honey over the layers, followed by peppermint schnapps and blackberry brandy, ensuring complete coverage.
3. Infuse: Seal the container tightly and let it sit at room temperature for 3 days.
4. Strain: After 3 days, strain the mixture to remove solids, retaining the liquid syrup.
5. Storage: Store the syrup in a cool, dark place, where it can last 6-12 months.
