Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.
The last thing I got excited about was the new school year starting. We are using a new program this year and I expect great things. I am looking forward to the memories we will create as a family and all the new things we will learn. I am so blessed to be able to homeschool my kiddos. It is not always easy but alway worth it.

Just curious. What are the main reasons why you home school your kids?

I tried public school in preschool. They lost my son and only told me when they called to tell me he was absent.
In kindergarten we were still in public school and they said I should medicate him for ADHD. I reluctantly obliged. I watch my son go from a big ball of energy and excited to learn, to hating school. So 1st and 2nd we took him off all medications and homeschooled. We saw a lot of improvements and his lust for learning had returned. 3rd grade I began to doubt my choice to homeschool. I worried he was missing out on too much so we tried public school again. He was doing great and loving school but would often talk about a kid who was mean to him. The staff refused to intervene and the bullying continued. So I pulled him out and homeschooled again. Later on I would learn that several kids were viciously bullying him along with a few staff members. He also gained a lot of knowledge about sex and drugs that he didn’t know before. He is now in the 7th grade and has no interest in returning to public school. He enjoys his shortened days and freedom that comes along with homeschooling. To summarize, I homeschool for many reasons, one, because little boys shouldn’t be medicated just because of high energy. Two, because public school teaches alot of useless information in the ample amount of time they have. Three, I want to give them the absolutely best start possible with a firm moral foundation that public school can not provide. Last but not least, I enjoy the additional time with my children. Homeschool isn’t for everyone but it works for my family and I. My oldest daughter is starting Kindergarten this year, she and her younger sister will never be placed into public school.

Solid reasons. I do hope they have contact with other children, though, like sports or clubs that they enjoy.

Absolutely! There are several homeschooling groups near by that do activities year around. Along with several organizations that do sports and dances for homeschoolers. It takes effort to find them sometimes but I agree, socializing is important as well. My son has reached the age to attend local dances this year, he is looking forward to the new scene.
