They Will Know

Being a parent is always tough.
Most of us wonder whether we do enough.

We all have ups and downs.
At times we are the source of frowns.

Within the realm of parenthood,
There is a certain breed rarely understood.

A group of parents who do it alone.
With little to no help from anyone known.

No babysitter, no daycare.
Most you know, wouldn’t even dare.

No big celebrations for an empty guest list.
Yet another birthday party missed.

No date nights or weekends away.
Vacations and trips always include the kids, it is the only way.

If you can’t relate, consider yourself lucky,
to have other beds which your children can safely sleep.

For society has taught me
to keep my kids within reach.

I don’t have a village, town or even a street.
Every time I try, it is a repeat.
At this point I’ll take it as defeat.

My children will know who was there,
and who made Facebook posts to share.
Who showed up and really cared.

I wont sugar coat and tell my children lies.
One day they will be big enough to realize.

Until then don’t you worry we are don’t just fine,
living our best life,
full of God, love, and Amazon Prime.
