A Child’s Sleep

Moments like these I treasure somewhere deep.
Nestled tightly to my bosom as I watch you sleep.
Pieces of these moments I will forever keep.

Late at night when the world grows quiet.
The urge to be productive, I quietly fight.
Frozen in time as I hold you tight.

You are not my first, but someday will be the last.
The last time I admire your face in the shadows cast.

Until then my dear,
I will be right here.

Holding tightly as I watch your breathing slow.
Enjoying sleep only a child in the arms of their mother can know.
Counting every second of blessings God
bestows.
Knowing the end is inevitable, yet unknown.
