We are at that time of year again when school is out and summer is here. The days are long and hot, filled with unscheduled time and freedom. Some parents dread the regular summer break while others happily look forward to it. As a homeschooling mom, summers are a refreshing reset that allows me to unwind and reload.
This year as school drawed to an end and I began preparing for summer break, reality hit me. As parents we have 18 summers. That’s it, 18. Then most likely, our children will be off on their own and starting their own lives and families. 18 summers to make childhood memories. 18 breaks from school to make a difference. 18 seems like such a small number in comparison to a lifetime. Maybe you don’t homeschool, and that’s okay, the idea is still the same. This season of motherhood only lasts for a little while. It may seem long and stressful at the moment but one day we’ll look back and wonder where the time has gone. Let’s make the most out of the time we have with our children. After all 18 is such a small number and my eldest is already at number 11.
