The ultimate ant eradicator. The arrival of summer often signals the arrival of pests. Especially the little mighty ant. It is pretty common to see ants crawling around your kitchen looking for a suitable meal. Knowing the moment a source is found the whole colony will be following behind. They can be a nuisance as well as a huge source of stress. Good news is I have a tried and true way to eliminate the problem in no time. I have used this recipe several times and always eradicated the problem within a week.
Boric Acid Ant Killer Recipe
Ingredients:
– 1 tablespoon boric acid powder
– 1 tablespoon sugar
– 1 cup warm water
Instructions:
1. Mix boric acid and sugar in warm water until dissolved.
2. Soak cotton balls in the solution.
3. Place cotton balls near ant trails or entry points.
4. Replace cotton balls as needed.
Important Safety Notes:
– Keep boric acid out of reach of children and pets.
– Avoid using near food or water sources.
– Wear gloves when handling boric acid.
This mixture works by attracting ants with sugar and killing them with boric acid. I usually place the cotton balls in a pop bottle cap or something similar for those positioned on top of wood or other porous surfaces. The worker ants will take the concoction back to the nest effectively killing the whole colony. Bye bye ants, hello bug free summers.

I tried this recipe years ago in the yard. We had big anthills so I put it in mason jars with cheesecloth over the top for them to find. I don’t know if it would have worked on the ants but I definitely remember coming home from work and seeing the dog guzzling out of the mason jar like it was a can of Coke. Fortunately the vet said it wasn’t enough to hurt her. Must have tasted good!

Oh no that would be scary. I am glad your dog was okay. Too bad you didn’t solve your ant problem. I bought a house years ago that had a whole colony of ants living in my bathroom walls. I quickly discovered the previous owner had a lot of similar surprises in store for me. Luckily, the boric acid helped in this situation, although them dieing inside my house was a unfortunate disaster as well. I’ve kept the recipe handy for similar situations. Thank you for commenting.
