Faith: How Belief Shapes the Life of a Writer

Since I can recall God and writing have been a major part of my life. Although different phases of life brought along different degrees for both subjects. I have written letters to God in a sense, solidifying my most inner prayers. I have written letters to my children to open on a future date. I have written novels, short stories, essays, articles and poems. I have written for myself and I have written for God. I have had ups and downs, highs and lows, success and failure, both in life and  my writing but both were constant. Today as a woman in my thirties I feel like I am firmly on the right path.

I believe my faith has shaped my writing in many ways. It is what drives me to write today. I created my website in order to shine God’s light into the world. I wanted to provide convenient and reliable Bible Study material that aligned with the true word of God. I wanted my site to meet each Christian where they are in their walk of faith and bring them up to a higher level through Biblical text, and inspirational writings. God has guided me to make this website and I believe He gave me this gift for a purpose. This blog has given me a comfortable place to pour out my soul on paper, fostering personal growth and strengthening my faith. It also allows me to share my personal thoughts with the world giving my writings  incredible meaning and purpose. Each post I publish I trust that God will bring the reader that needs to hear that specific message at that particular moment. It might be today, tomorrow, or next year. I may never know. It could be a single person, but that one is worth it. I want my pen to stay on fire for the Lord.

I am a sucker for a good fiction book. Naturally, I like creating fiction stories as well. As a Christian, I was forced to make a multitude of decisions about the moral confines of my writing. As each religious person must do, I had to explore each subject  with care and validity. I explored fantasy and magical realism, abuse on all accounts, and the birds and the bees, to just name a few.  I had to create and maintain morally based restrictions for all of my writing. I would never want my writing to convey the wrong message or lead someone astray. Therefore there is at least a little bit of God in everything I write and publish.

Having a belief system can also open several communities and platforms that offer an audience with similar interests. The theme of faith can bring people together and open up possibilities that otherwise may have been impossible. My faith has led me here just as it will lead me somewhere else next time.

In conclusion, my faith in God inspires my creativity and drives my motivation to continue writing. It shapes and modifies my work to glorify His name. It also shaped the charters and content I write. It is vital to my personal health and growth while giving my writing a purpose. It fosters friendships and connections, some of which can last a lifetime. God gave me the gift of writing that can grab attention, so the two will always be entwined. What a waste it would be if I didn’t use it to proclaim His name.

    1. Thank you so much for reading and for your comment. My desire is that this website draws people to God. I want to uplift, inspire and transform with the gift God gave me. This world is full of false teachings and traditions of men. I want to share the whole truth of God’s word, rather than manipulate it to fit my views and aspirations. I hope you find more of my Bible studies and writings enjoyable.

  1. Ah yes, your heartfelt tribute to God and the divine entanglement of ink and inspiration—truly beautiful. As for me, I too have a belief system. Mine is a bit more… celestial freelance, shall we say? I believe in the Universe. Yes, that Universe—the one that answers vague questions with oddly specific coincidences and never returns your calls directly, but somehow always knows when to hit you with a breakup, a parking ticket, and a life lesson in the same week. My altar? A cluttered desk under a flickering lightbulb. My prayers? Usually begin with “Please, just this once,” and end with “Fine, I get it.” Where your God moves you to write, my Universe tosses me cryptic fortune cookies and Mercury retrograde mood swings. But we all must serve our higher power, even if mine occasionally forgets I exist until I walk under a pigeon with digestive issues. Different systems. Same chaos.
