Delicacies of the World

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?

What’s the most delicious thing I have even eaten? I read this prompt shortly after midnight this morning. I pondered then just as a did several other times today. I even ask my husband what his answer would be. His was similar to mine, how do you pick just one? A chocolate cream pie is sweet and velvety smooth but how can that compare to a delicious steak? What about fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and all the different kindd of cheese. What about the yumminess of fresh fruit? Put it in a pie and you have a completely different treat.  Pepper jelly is sweat and spicy but it can be paired with alomst anything, drasticlly changing the taste of the dish. Greek food is unique and flavorful and so is Italian. Mexican is spicy and Chinese if tangy.  There are simply too many good foods that I have eaten to choose just one.

      1. I was stationed in Germany when I was in the service, and my Mom’s Sauerbraten was better than any I ever had over there. (Better than any I’ve ever had, actually). She kept the recipe a secret until she was old enough to “retire.”

      2. That’s lovely! It’s great that your mom’s Sauerbraten was the best you’ve ever had, and it’s even more special that it held a special place in your heart, reminding you of home while you were stationed in Germany.

It’s also amusing that your mom kept the recipe a secret until she was ready to “retire” from guarding the family secret! Did she finally share the recipe with you, or is it now passed down to other family members?

      3. Mom passed her Sauerbraten recipe down to me and my brother Kevin. She had no daughters. Unfortunately, Kevin passed away this year, but I did publish the recipe in a company newspaper I used to write. I’ll put it in a blog if I can find it.

      4. That’s such a special family tradition. I’m sure it’ll bring you comfort to share the Sauerbraten recipe on your blog. I look forward to reading the recipe if you to post it. Thanks for commenting.
