How do you celebrate holidays?
Holidays in my house take on a different theme than most American house holds. While we do celebrate Christmas, we celebrate it as Jesus’s conception date. We do not celebrate Easter, we celebrate Passover. No Easter bunnies, Santa clause, elf on the self, or tooth fairy. I have always made a point not to lie to my children and feel doing so sets a bad example from the start. We celebrate together as a family and honor God at each holiday without follow traditions of men.

This is awesome! My husband and I do not celebrate any holiday any longer. ESPECIALLY Christmas. We feel that is the biggest pagan holiday of deception!
We have been learning more of the Bible and the Feasts!

That is wonderful you are diving into God word. Christmas is Biblical just not how most churches celebrate it. It makes me sad to see Santa clause in church traditions every year. It is actually his conception date! I can send you link to the studies that has helped me understand better! I also do two daily Bible studies. I would love to have you all along!

Thank you for this. We haven’t been celebrating the Easter bunny or teeth fairy for a while now. We do celebrate Holy Week and we usually get a basket of things the kids need. We also don’t do traditional things for our kids. My husband is Korean and so we try to celebrate some of those celebrations so they can learn about other traditions from a different culture and that is okay. Thank you for this.

Going to start celebrating Passover instead of Easter as well, and absolutely no Halloween!

That’s really interesting, Heather. I like how you’ve created your own way of celebrating that stays true to your beliefs. I think it’s refreshing when families don’t just follow traditions blindly but instead choose what feels meaningful to them. Out of curiosity, how did your kids respond growing up without things like Santa or the Easter Bunny? I imagine it might have given them a stronger sense of honesty early on.
